LEEINSUNG ART PRIZE

LEEINSUNG Art Prize was established to commemorate the creative art realm and artistic spirit of Lee Insung, a painter who is considered a genius artist born a Daegu and contributed to great achievements in the history of Korean modern art.
LEEINSUNG Art Prize has established in 1999 and had been hosted by Daegu. It was organized by Daegu Fine Arts Association until 2013 and from 2014, its conduction has been transferred to Daegu Art Museum to be operated with the new directionality.

To carry out a fair and transparent operation of LEEINSUNG Art Prize, Daegu Art Museum appoints experts in contemporary art to form a Recommendation Committee (10 members) and a Judging Committee (5 members), and finally selects one final winner. The winner will have the honor of being provided with creation support fund, a trophy, and an opportunity to exhibit at Daegu Art Museum. In add boa, Daegu Art Museum continues to carry out research of the award-winning artists for management by collecting a variety of archives that allow multifarious approaches to the works of artists.

LEEINSUNG Art Prize appoints the winner out of artists who continuously carry out ingenious and experimental works in quality of citizens of the Korea. The award category is visual art works with an expanded concept embracing the ever-changing characteristics of contemporary art, while succeeding the spirit of the time where Lee Insung had devoted himself to various painting fields such as oil painting, watercolor, and 5u00/Oh//a (Ink wash painting). Through this Prize, Daegu Art Museum intends to contribute to developing Korean contemporary art by not only securing differentiation from other art prizes of today but also actively supporting all genres of visual arts.
